What Reading Wrapped reads, uses, and leaves alone
Reading Wrapped is designed around public Goodreads shelf data and browser-side image generation. No account is required to use the app.
Goodreads profile URLs
When you paste a Goodreads profile URL, Reading Wrapped extracts the numeric Goodreads user ID and asks Goodreads for the public RSS feed for that user's read shelf. Private profiles and private shelves are not importable.
Imported book data
The app may process public shelf fields such as titles, authors, ISBNs, ratings, read dates, page counts, and cover URLs. It may also call Open Library or Google Books from server routes to fill missing ISBNs, covers, or alternate editions.
Storage
Reading Wrapped does not require a login and does not create hosted public result pages. Your review edits, cover uploads, and exported image are handled in your browser session. Public Goodreads shelf responses may be cached for up to ten minutes to make repeat imports faster; using Refresh shelf bypasses that cache. Serverless platform logs may temporarily include ordinary request information for endpoints that power imports and lookups.
Sharing
The generated recap is a PNG that you save yourself. You decide where to post it and what audience can see it.
Analytics
Reading Wrapped uses Vercel Web Analytics to understand basic page views and site usage. It is not used for advertising pixels, cross-site tracking, or selling reader data.
